KIRKLAND KIWANIS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES
SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABILITY FOR GRADUATING SENIORS
The Kirkland Kiwanis Foundation announced today that it will award up to nine+ scholarships available to graduating seniors on the Eastside. The awards range from $500.00 to $2,500.00. Students, or their parents, must live or work within the attendance boundaries of Lake Washington High School or Juanita High School. This includes Kirkland and parts of Redmond and Woodinville. Students may attend any public or private high school, so long as they or their parents live or work within the designated area.
The Kiwanis Scholarships are based on a variety of factors, including academic performance, financial need and community service.
Kirkland Kiwanis and the Kirkland Kiwanis Foundation support many programs in the community including Special Olympics, Eastside Baby Corner, Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing and sponsors Key Club service organizations at Lake Washington High School, Juanita High School, the International Community School and a Builder’s Club at Kirkland Junior High.
The Kirkland Kiwanis Scholarships are awarded in honor of Kiwanis members who have exemplified the Kiwanis tradition of service to the community. “Supporting youth in our community is one of the principal purposes of Kiwanis,” said Ralph Loveland, President of the service club. “The Kiwanis Scholarship Program is just one of our programs that assists young people in our community. This year we have substantially increased our support for students, adding a $2500 scholarship in honor of our long time member Bill Petter."
